Long Way to Go

I took this photo around the beginning of October with my friend Priscilla. I took a lot of photos of her on the train tracks and this came out as my favorite. I made it black and white and added a fate tint. I like how I used rule of thirds and not put her directly in the middle of the photo. Overall I am really happy with this photo.

  1. I really like this photo and what you did with it. The black and white and the tint made it more genuine I think. I also like how your friend is looking at the never ending track as if there is something down there waiting for her. I like the detail in the front and then how everything fades out including the trees. Cool shot!

  2. I think it was a good choice to decrease the saturation and on this composition and make it black and white. It adds a very dramatic mood to the photograph. I also like the rule of thirds you used here, with the girl looking away, though it’s better with these kind of photos to give some space for the subject to look towards, such as a lot of empty space, but I like the direction you took with it as well.
Another notable thing is the depth of field, nice and blurry and then sharp where it matters. Beautiful.

  4. I really like this photo. To me it seems like she's looking back from where she came from, due to her body facing the camera. None the less still love it. Great Photo! CF SPHS

  5. I love this photo! i have always adored train track photos. I love that the train tracks look like they lead into oblivion; it provides an heir of mystery to the picture. The black and white element adds a nice touch, also. You did a great job overall, and keep on taking pictures!!! :)

  6. I really like how you cant see the face and how you just see the body. I think this photo uses lines to draw the viewers in to the picture. I really like how you chose to have this picture in black and white.

  7. I like this photo. It conveys a sort of lonely mood, with the black and white colors and how the person’s face is omitted. One thing that could have been done differently with this photo, however, is the composition. The picture makes me wonder what the person is looking at, and it would look better if the person was looking into the photo, rather than out. Aside that, very well done!

  8. What I like about this photo is how you have it in Black and White, with the fade touch to it. I have always likes train pictures and this is by far the best one I’ve seen. Nice rule of thirds. I adore how the girl is sitting and how she is looking back as if she is waiting for something or looking back. The mood I feel from this is loneliness.

  9. This is a good photo. I like where the subject is placed, and how the lines (railroad tracks) draw me to the background until I can’t see anything. Nice job!

  10. I really like this photo and how the railroad tracks lead my eye through the picture. The girl on the left gives the picture good shape and originality, as you’ve used the rule of thirds.
I love the mood this looks, of looking back to the past.

  12. I personally like train tracks in general, and I like how using black and white makes it simpler. I think the fact that she isn’t looking at the camera is a good affect, it’s as if she’s thinking of some road she’s traveling be it mental or physical. To me this photo portrays strength, but a lonely strength. Great job, I love it =] ~Arianna Shuler FPHS

  13. I like this photo I feel her not looking shows she doesn’t know whats gonna happen next (like a photo being taken). If I didn’t know any better I would say that it wasn’t a planed picture. I like how you used the rule of thirds to have her on the side. The black and white with a little tint really bring the emotion in the picture. Almost like sad but happy. I like how you have the picture from the train track almost looking up. I like how the train tracks act as leading lines for the road to be traveled and the one already traveled. Good job.

  14. I like this photo a lot! It catches my eye and makes me think of what she could possibly be looking at. I think that the black and white adds a certain effect on the tone of the picture, almost like what is coming is unknown, a lot like the girl in the photo(because we can’t see her face). I also like that she isn’t necessarily the main focus of the photo but without her the picture wouldn’t have the meaning that it does. The perspective and the different lines leading the eye in different directions make the photo.

  15. I like how you used the black and white color scheme to your photo. This adds to the quality of it. The girl looking to the outside of the photo adds to the mystery of the photo and the angle it was shot at makes the rail road seem like it is endless.

  20. I like how the use of black and white draws your eyes to this photo as a whole. It ties it together in a weird way that compliments it all plus the black and white effect enhances the leading lines... to me it does at least.

  22. I really like this picture. The Elements of Composition are really good choosen in this picture. Leading lines is used and a tiny bit of angle up. The Person in the left is the difference between good and great. It makes this picture special and it catches the eye so it makes it different that we want to look at it for a longer time. That’s exactly how it should be. Good job.
