This is Real Drifting

This photo was taken at the race track in Kent, Wa. To explain this photo more thoroughly, Drifting refers to a driving technique and to a motorsport where the driver intentionally over steers, causing loss of traction in the rear wheels through turns, while maintaining vehicle control and a high exit speed. This photo I shot is a picture of a Nissan Skyline GT-R; this car was sliding sideways through the track going up to 70-80 MPH the whole time! This photo really brings me in, because this car is a illegal car anywhere on the streets in the U.S (known as the SUPER CAR), and most of all it wasn’t just going straight, the car was going completely sideways. I must admit, doing what I love, taking pictures of what I love was that best part of this photo actually.  The photo’s aperture was F13, shutter speed was 1/80, ISO was 800, and the white balance was on SHADE. I also bumped up the contrast on the edges of the car to make it sharp, and also bumped up the sharpness of the car.

  1. This is a real good photo and it really does give the whole thought of drifting. The sharpness was done well that you can see the movement of the car's speed but still see the car really clear. Good job (:

  2. I like this picture because of the light of the picture and how it gets dark around the edges. Also how its a very good freeze frame picture.

  3. I love this photo. Not just because I love racing but because i love how you focused in on the car and then blurred out its surrounding. This gives this picture so much more dimension and just makes the car look that much faster.

  4. This photo is amazing! I love how everything but the car is blurred. It must have taken some really good timing to get it right. This picture shows how the drift must have looked, and makes me feel almost as if the picture itself is moving. Absolutely beautiful!

  5. Nice picture and nice Skyline! Good rule of thirds, nice lighting, and capturing the smoke from the tires was a cool addition.

I like how the subject is in motion and the background is blurred but, the R33 is in focus. I would remove the part about the car being illegal because it is not. There are many of these right-hand drive Skylines and other Imports on the streets of Atlanta.

  7. The GT-R is being in complete focus as its drifting and showing its motion as the rest of the background is blurred showing speed. The car is drifting into the corner and is shown really well with rule of thirds.

  8. this is a really cool photo how you were able to get the shot of the car mid drift. also how you got the car to be in focus while everything is a blur around it. It is expressing what you like and how its fun to take pictures of what you like

  9. I like the use of rule of thirds, also how it kept the skyline in focus i have nothing bad to say about this picture.

  10. What I like about this picture is how the freeze action as the skyline goes sideways to make a turn. Also, I like how the lighting of the trees is dark, but the car sticks out itself.

  11. I really like how the focus is on the car and nothing else. Also, I like the use of S lines in the photo. I would definitely hang this on my wall.

  12. What I like about this photo is how the depth of field is shallow with the trees in the background. I also like how the focus is specifically the car drifting. The car is set, to create a rule of thirds look with the car off to the left more. This gives me the mood of something being so intense that you have to have a high level of perfection.

  15. I really love the depth of field used in this photo. You were able to keep the Skyline in focus and let the depth of field capture the entire track behind it. You managed to capture the speed and the rush that the driver must feel.

  16. I'm definitely impressed because these types of photos are one of the hardest to capture due to how fast the cars are drifting. I know from expeirence your timing and isolation have to be perfect for a photo like that.

  17. I really like this picture, due to the impressive timing and the way you captured the skyline while it was drifting its really hard to capture. I like that you got the car in the middle a little bit to the right showing off rule of thirds and how you changed the lighting of it.
    Very nice work

  18. I really like this picture because of the freeze in action. How the car appears like it’s going really fast. One thing I don’t like is how the picture is a bit too close up. KT-FPHS
