Kiwi

I took this picture for our food assignment. I sliced a piece of kiwi relatively thin and placed it in front of a window that has direct sunlight coming through it. In Photoshop I turned the background black because the background was otherwise distracting. I think turning it black makes the kiwi and the color stand out much more.

  1. I really like this picture simply because of how green the kiwi is. The color of it is vibrant and bright, and the picture really captured that. I also like how the subject is perfectly centered.

  5. The light coming through the subject is awesome. Using close up with texture really brings out the separate parts of the kiwi. I like this photo because they took out the background so it brings out the kiwi more. Joe h -FPHS

  7. You made a great decision turning the back ground black it looks amazing how the colors just pop out. The way the back ground and the seeds go together it good too. The texture in the picture is great because being able to see all the little details on the fruit just gives it a better look. The one thing I really like is how you cut out the edges of the kiwi and how you were original and just didn’t have the whole thing in it. Great photo!

  8. This picture is a great example of a close-up.the color is the background is good because it makes the fruit stand out more. You can really see detail in the fruit, you can see things that the human eye can see that close.

  9. I love how the background behind the kiwi is black so there’s nothing distracting you from the food. I also love how the one seed is far away from the others. That drew my attention. It reminds me of when I was a kid and used to eat kiwis all the time.

  14. I think this picture is interesting. I like how there isn’t a real background behind the kiwi, how it’s all black so the focus is the kiwi and the kiwi alone. I also like how you can see all the details of the kiwi. I can practically taste how tart it is. Overall, I think this picture is pretty good! Best close-up shot of a kiwi I’ve seen all day!

  16. This picture really sparks my Interest because there is very little to focus on so you know what the subject is. And also there is no distinguished background.

  21. This is a great photo. The image is in focus and the color is vibrant. I would be interested in seeing this image differently framed because of the black triangles in the corner. Maybe filling the frame would look better or maybe not. You never know. Overall this is a great photo. Looks like something I would see in a food magazine.

  22. I like the vivid green color of the kiwi and the fact that is the center of the kiwi.

Filling the frame is used in this photo by having the kiwi take up most of the space in the frame and having very little negative space, drawing your eye to the subject.

The focus of the picture is very clear, showing every detail of the kiwi.

This photo reflects a very bright, upbeat, happy mood.

  23. This picture has got great focus. It’s cool how you were able to get in so close. I think that the photo is cropped well, leaving small enough black spaces on the outside to contrast with the green color, but not distract from it. I like this photo – it looks like it could be used for an advertisement.

  24. I like how you got all of the different shades of green in the kiwi while staying so close. The fact you changed the background to black really helped balance out the bright vivid colors of the kiwi, giving off a nice happy feeling, but it also seems to give me a feeling of wonder of the beauty in nature.

  26. I love this picture! The color is just amazing! I would like to know why you decided to a put the piece of kiwi randomly up to a window!? The fact that you made the background black, you now have no depth of field! The kiwi is completely centered. Everything thing is in focus, that is good.

  27. This picture brings out more detail in the fruit then even I knew was there. Kiwi is my favorite fruit so it brings back memories of my mom cutting up kiwi on hot summer days. The lighting was perfect.
