Scary Spider

I took this photo this year, I was in my front yard and I came across this spider, and I liked the web that it made, and how it was positioned, I also like how it has depth of field. I am a big whimp when it comes to spiders they scare me, so it was difficult to get this photo, I wish I could have sucked it up and tried getting better angles of it. Overall, I like really like this photo.

  1. i really like this picture. i like how the spider is so dark but the background is bright. its cool that the spider is in the very center of the web but its off center in the picture. this is a really cool picture.

  2. I got these things all over around the outside of my house, they are interesting.. Yesterday I managed to see one that had caught a full sized bee in its web (The huge nest hanging from the tree infront of our house fell and they went EVERYWHERE!) I am sure you will get another chance at getting the perfect spider shot!

  3. I always love spider pictures. This one is great because you see the entire web and its patterns. Also you placed the spider really well, using the rule of thirds. I like the blurred background and the bright sky coming through the trees, it all gives of an autumny feel.

  4. I like that the picture is very focused on the spider, and the rest of the background is blurred. And I like that you can see the detail of the lines in the spider web.

The element of composition used is depth of field.

It creates a mood of power from this spider since it is so focused in on.

  5. I like how the photo is all about the spider you would think that this would be hard to get the spider and the web in focused but you did and it looks really cool.

  6. I like the depth of field on this photo. The spider is in focus, and the background is distinguishable, but out of focus. The colors look nice on it as well. The spider is distinct among the shades of blue, yellow and green. The rule of thirds is also used nicely in this picture.

  7. I like this picture, even though it creeps me out. The color of the spider really stands out in front of the green background. I also like where everything is located, the spider isn’t just in the middle but off to the side.

  8. I'm terrified of spiders, but I am in love with this picture. I love how you cropped it to get the entire web. The focus really makes the picture. Great job! -MM

  9. I love the colors of the greens and yellows. I really like how the web is in the entire frame!
The focusing is perfect! The spider and his web is in focus while nothing else is.
The mood of this photo reminds me of spring time, whether or not it was taken in the fall!

  10. To be honest I really hate spiders with the passion, but I like spider webs and the way spiders set them up. I like how the spider stands out from the whole photo.

  12. I love the focus on this but i wish the background satiation was down cause the web and spider kinda get lost in the background colors. JEBSPHS

  14. I like how you used depth of field and the spider and it's web are both in focus. I also noticed how you didn't put the spider in the middle of the photo. overall i think this is a really good picture.

  16. Honestly, I really like the depth of field in this picture. It really makes the spider and the web stand out. I also like how the spider isn't directly in the center of the picture. The top of the picture is kind of bright though, but I love the color of the spider. It stands out a lot. This picture is overall really cool.

  17. I really enjoyed this photo and your techniques that you applied. What I enjoyed most about this photo was the detailing and focus of the delicate web. You used great positioning for rule of thirds and the exposure and lighting was fantastic. The colors all really go well and compliment eachother with the orange spider and greens and blues of the background. Well done.
