Don't Try This At Home

These pictures were originally from a games assignment. I picked these images because it tells a story. It shows the steps I took in to getting a good photo. I like how I used a blue board to contrast with the blue of the flame. In the first image the front domino could have been more in focus but overall I love this picture.

  1. I really like this photo. The depth of field and the lighting are spectacular. I like the rule of third on the big picture with the flame. There is a lot going on in the picture but it’s not enough for the viewer to be overwhelmed. I especially like the reflections and the focus. Great Photo!

  2. I really like the lighting of the picture and how the domino's are set up. Also the fire makes the picture interesting and enjoyable to look at. I like how it shows different parts of the fire going.

  3. The colors on the photos are amazing, the blue contrasts the yellowish colors of the dominoes. The lighting of the picture makes the image tell a story, and is greatly pleasing to the eye. I would put this is a game room of some sorts… If I had one.

  4. The lighting from the right and left sides of the pictures and the flame adding to it gave it an odd but amazing glow. The dominoes mostly had formal balancing. And the lines of the flames drew my attention. This makes me feel warm inside.

  5. The top photo in the picture could have been a little more in focus while the balance in the picture is great, the right part is bright while the left part is darker. I like this photo because you don’t really see dominoes on fire and I feel like that is a very creative idea. joe -fphs

  6. On the first picture I really like that flame doesn’t start right in the front. Then the 2nd and 3rd have the flames what looks like engulfing a domino. I also like the color difference between the background and the flames, it really helps bring out the color of the dominos and flames.

  7. This picture looks really cool. I like how you captured the color of the flame and how the picture lays out, and the framing looks great.

  8. I like that there is a small depth of field because you can still tell what the object is and what numbers are on it. I also like that the fire is a rule of thirds and not in the middle. I love the color blue you get with the fire and that the fire gets bigger in two other pictures. I think you succeed in telling a story, it makes me want to see more and know what happen to the domino.

  12. The photo is very unique, a lot of vertical lines dots. There is a good depth of field, the back dominoes are in focus but the front ones are blurry. The way that that the flame burns makes it appealing to the eye.

  13. I’m not sure what photo shop technique was used in this picture, but I like it. The dominoes look really cool. I also like how all of the pictures were combined into one.

  14. I like the exposures of the dominoes how it’s not all exposed by light but only a little on one side. Also I like the repetition of the dominoes around the flames and the dark v.s. light areas make the picture really stand out. I like this photo because I like the separate pictures in one and the repetition of the dominoes and it’s something different.

  15. I Love How The Fire Is Around The Domino And Not Fully Covering The Domino. I Also Love How The Lighting Is Dark & The Light From It Is From The Fire. I Like How The Surface Of The Picture Is Reflective.

  16. i Like how the background is Black & the Fire stands the domino's Out. Most of the Domino's are centered rather than Rule of thirds which looks better for this picture. The mood this picture gives me makes me not wanna do this at home but at a friends house :]] Hah.

  17. The lighting is very nice, it is unusual yet it still appeals to your senses. The balance in this photo is well done considering that flames require a certain degree of darkness. This photo reminded me of Saigan the burning monk.

  18. Technical: Depth of Field – The depth of field in this image is really deep in the background, as the dominoes in the very back are out of focus.
Composition: Cropping/framing- In the image there is a volume of area that could be used and is empty. In the image the crop of the photograph shouldn’t have been tighter. The cropping is very well done.
Aesthetic: Keeper- Yes I would hang this on my wall! It’s something very different; it’s out of the ordinary and strange. Z Reeves ~ FPHS

  22. l like this picture for two reason, one it has awesome choice of color and the way the dominos are aligned. second is that she/he showed us multiple views of her picture and that is really good we might find another angle better than the other

  23. I like the way the photographer took this image. It really makes the dominos stand out against the flames. It must have taken the photographers a really long time to get the perfect shot. Overall, I love this photo.

  24. This picture is awesome. It’s very different and something that no one else I’ve seen has done. I wouldn’t do the pic stich thing though. I’d just take the best shot and have that be the main focus.

  26. This is impressing; It’s really interesting The little flame is in perfect focus the color of it stands out. The dark lighting allowed the flame to really pop at you that’s why it’s so good. This is a photo that I would love to put on my wall. Fei - FPHS
