At Bat

I love this picture, because it was of my brother. I love the depth of field and, the color. I had my camera at my brother's baseball game and I was trying to apply what Mr. D has taught me. So I was playing around with aperture and iso and shutter speed and I came out with this.

  1. I like how the baseball player is in focus and the rest of the picture isn’t.

The element of composition that is used would be Rule of Thirds.

It would be better if the green in the trees was brighter and if his jersey wasn’t so dark and if to the left of his head didn’t look grey.

This photo reflects a positive mood.

  2. The thing I like about this photo is how the focus point is the baseball player, and how he is positioned in the shot. The player in the background gives a real edge to the photo by being out of focus.

The element of composition used was the rule of thirds and single center of interest.

The photo accomplishes a shallow depth of field with the foreground is in focus, and the background is out of focus.

The mood reflected by the photo is intensity. For example it looks like the batter is getting ready to go up to bat, and there is anticipation with the fielder in the background.

  3. How the photographer only is focused on the player and the rest of the players/ field is blurred out

I see Depth of field and rule of thirds

The focus is just right. Its not too blurry and not focused too much to where it looks sharp.

I feel like it’s an excited mood

  4. I think that the rule of thirds works well for this shot. Not only does it show you the subject, but it also shows what he’s looking at: the baseball game. The white balance and lighting also work well in this photo – I think the colors look great. I feel like I can really connect to this photo, too, because my brother is also a baseball player, which is one major reason why I like it!

  5. I love how the main focus is the baseball player and everything in the background isn’t. It would be cool if you could see his face in the photo. You did a really good job.

  6. I like this photo because it shows a good example of Depth of Field. I like the fact that the main focus is the first baseball player but then you can still see another in the back who looks like he's in the middle of stretching. The focus of the picture is also very clear.

  9. I love the rule of thirds and how you are leading the subject. Also, how you used small depth of field to blur out the background. Great job, you captured a lot of elements in one photograph.

  10. I like this photo because it isn’t face on, he is off to the side, (using rule of thirds) and tilting his head. Also the depth of field draws more attention to the player.

  12. I like how this photo uses depth of field to focus in on the baseball player and the number, while the opponent is out of focus and blurry. The Elements of composition used was rule of thirds and there was a single object in focus. The white balance and lighting are also used correctly making the game look summery and warm. This is a great picture!
