Forest Fire

This picture was taken in near complete darkness. I used the bulb setting as my shutter speed and stood out in the cold, holding open the shutter for 2 minutes on my camera (mounted on a tripod). The “fire” is actually lights way off in the distance and the “smoke” is fog. Even after the 2 minute shot, the picture was clear and crisp but I increased the levels in photoshop to overexpose the lights giving it a fire look.

  1. This photo uses great lighting and utilizes silhouettes to enhance the feeling of the photo. The tree in the foreground also adds a bit of rule of thirds to the picture.

  2. This picture is awesome! I like how the lights look like fires in the background. Color is actually pretty good. depth of field is good and so is rules of thirds.

  3. This Photo is very well in focused. I like how the foreground is focused and the background is blurred out. The color tones of this photo is very good, it goes together. Well done on that. But, I think that you should change the levels a bit on it. But, great job on the photo.

  4. I like that this picture shows beauty and devastation. This photo uses a depth of field that shows how far away the photographer is. Bright orange flames that let off a white smoke brighten the dark sky. This photo is sad to me just because trees are being burned down.

  5. The lighting in this photo is amazing! It actually looks like a fire. The background is great because it looks like smoke going into the air. I really like this photo it caught my eye, it would be something I would really like to see on my wall. Fei - FPHS

  6. I think you could of done a better job getting an actual focus on one subject. The color of orange and bright orange make the bright bluish light stand out. The mood to me seems calm and awakening. Overall good photo. excuse my critique.

  7. The rule of thirds on this picture is fantastic. The lights remind me of a beautiful sunrise. The time you left the shutter open really made this picture.

  8. I like the Rule of Thirds in this picture. The setting of this picture reminds me of the Walking Dead and the fires make the background stand out

  9. I really like how this picture looks like there is actually fire in the background. The lighting in this picture makes it feel like dusk or almost in the rise of morning. But it was taken in almost near darkness.

  11. I like the dark colors of orange and yellow in this photo. It looks like it is night time with field fires. When I first saw this photo I though houses or tress were on fire.
